Clearing the Way for Open Network Solutions
Marvell announced the immediate availability of the Teralynx 10 Ethernet Switch on July 25th. This switch boasts an impressive 51.2 Tbps, and promises to provide the industry's lowest published latency.
This switch is intended for use with the Linux Foundation's SONiC network operating system, following the trend of cloud datacenter operators shifting to open-network software platforms, in order to facilitate the development of new capabilities for silicon vendors via a single common programming model compatible with different types of hardware. Basically, this incredibly fast switch is designed to be used with a framework that promotes a variety and compatibility amongst different vendors.
What does this mean for the industry? The Teralynx 10 Ethernet Switch brings lower latency, lower power consumption, and incredible versatility to give data center operators investment protection as newer protocols continue to evolve. Developers who are already exploring a new trend in the industry will have an invaluable tool to accelerate the pace at which new solutions are made.
