EDOM Summer Night Concert Starring Formosa Chamber
On Friday 23th August, EDOM and Formosa Chamber presented an evening of music at Song Shan Cultural and Creative Park. Around 300 participants from EDOM's partners, vendors and friends came to the concert and enjoyed in the beautiful atmosphere of classical music.
The concert started with Haydn's string quartet No.5 in D Major, Op.76, and ending with Dvorak's piano quintet No.2 in A Major, Op.81. With special encore performances. To pull attendees into the world of music, Formosa Chamber made a special arrangement for musical interpretation piece by piece before performance. Fei-Wen Hsieh, associate professor of Tainan Arts University, presented a pre-concert lecture before the performance. The lecture provided a great starting point for knowing more about the composers- Joseph Haydn and Antonin Dvorak.
Joseph Lin, violinist, continues on the faculty of the Juilliard School, where he teaches violin and chamber music. Jasmine Lin, violinist, is a founding member of the Formosa Quartet, which won first prize in the 10th London International String Quartet Competition. Ru-Pei Yeh, cellist, appears often as a recitalist in New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Boston, Tainan, and Taipei. Her elegant and lyrical playing has propelled her pursuit in a career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. The guest violaist, Robert Meyer, was a founding member of the New Fromm Players, a contemporary music ensemble in residence at the Tanglewood Music Center.
Music is often considered a language deeper than word. Thanks to Formosa Chamber for a wonderful performance, see you next summer!
